On March 22, 2022, to mark World Water Day, the youth of Jaladarsha Collective organized a march from Academy of Fine Arts to Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Building, to demand the clean up and preservation of Kolkata's freshwater sources. Even as the city has a good supply of groundwater, it has been depleting over the years, which is a cause of concern. Garbage and illegal encroachments have been affecting the city's freshwater sources.
